Sarah Wood Torrey, Institutional Giving Consultant

Sarah Wood Torrey has more than thirty years of experience as an arts administrator and fundraiser for performing arts organizations. She began her career as an administrator for the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program and National Council Auditions, managing the programs’ daily operations and coordinating the National Council Finals and Winners Concert which took place on the Met stage. She has also served as Corporate and Foundation Relations Officer for Boston Lyric Opera where she secured major funding for their mainstage seasons and first-ever free “Carmen on the Common” outdoor performance in 2002. From 2014 to 2017 she was the Institutional Giving Manger at BlackRock Center for the Arts, a multidisciplinary arts center in Germantown, MD. Sarah is now an independent consultant and grant writer whose clients include national arts service organizations, orchestras and festivals. Sarah has also served as Chair of the Cohasset, MA Cultural Council, Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee for the South Shore Conservatory in Hingham, MA, and as a panelist for the Maryland State Arts Council. She holds a B.A. from Yale and an M.A. in Arts Administration from Columbia University.
