2009 Annual Conference

With the dance field facing the same new economic challenges as the rest of the Nation, the Conference presented an invaluable opportunity for regional and national dance leaders to network and strategize to face our common new realities.  Attendees gained an understanding of:

  • the distinction of myths versus realities;
  • recognizing current opportunities;
  • setting realistic goals and action plans.

Managing directors, executive directors, artistic directors, directors of development, marketing, human resources, finance and operations of all sized dance companies, presenters, agents, service organizations, choreographers, and dancers. Conference benefits included:

  • 10.5 hours council and forum meetings
  • 11.25 hours programming
  • 9.5 hours SmART Bar (one-on-one conversations, concurrent to other activities)
  • 4 hours performances
  • Networking: continuous and priceless

Access Dance/USA Scholarship
The Access Dance/USA scholarship program provided funding for fourteen dance administrators and artists from the New York City dance community to attend the Dance/USA Annual Conference. These scholarships were intended to help defray the costs of Conference registration, travel, and accommodations associated with attending the Dance/USA Annual Conference. Funding for these scholarships was made possible by Dance/NYC through a grant by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
