About Dance/USA's National Company Roster

The National Company Roster is a listing created and maintained by Dance/USA that tracks nonprofit dance companies in the United States (the "Roster"). The updated Roster is posted to the Dance/USA website on a yearly basis.

To be included on the Roster, a dance company must

  • Have 501(c)(3) or Section 7871 status
  • Pay the dancers that perform for the company,
(if the company works exclusively with students who are paying tuition fees to the company, that organization is ineligible for inclusion on the Roster), and
  • Be located in one of the 50 U.S. States, the District of Columbia, or a U.S. territory.

The National Company Roster has been in existence for over a decade, and Dance/USA has historical data on some of the companies on the Roster stretching as far back as 2000.

Dance/USA frequently adds new companies to the Roster. If your organization fits the criteria above, please send an email to the director of research and information services and include the following:

  • Name of the Dance Company
  • EIN
  • City, State
  • Website (if applicable)

**In January 2016, Dance/USA will begin expanding the Roster to include all independently federally registered tax-exempt U.S. nonprofit dance companies, regardless of budget size, and will begin populating a new database of fiscally sponsored dance companies and groups (the "Fiscal List"). If you are a 501(c)(3) or Section 7871 professional dance company and believe you should be included on the new Roster, please contact the director of research and information services. If you are a fiscally sponsored professional dance company or group and believe you should be included on the new Dance/USA Fiscal List, please contact the director of research and information services.
