Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater

Audition Location: The Joan Weill Center for Dance @ 405 W. 55th St. in New York, NY

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will hold auditions for professional dancers of all racial and ethnic backgrounds accomplished in modern, ballet, jazz, Horton and Dunham techniques on Monday, April 27.

Those interested in auditioning should bring their headshot and resume/CV.  Ballet slippers and jazz shoes are recommended. No pointe, tap or character shoes needed.

The Company is affiliated with the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA). Employment will commence Spring 2015.

Ballet des Amériques

Ballet des Amériques is looking for classically trained male dancers for its professional dance company. Candidates should also be comfortable with neoclassical, contemporary and modern techniques and works. Knowledge of African and Afro-Caribbean dance styles would be advantageous.

Ballet des Amériques engages dancers who grasp and appreciate the pedagogical, aesthetic and ethical principles of its organization as whole and who are willing to commit to their realization in the dance company.

Eisenhower Dance

Audition Time: Various
Audition Locations: Detroit, MI; New York, NY; and Chicago, IL

Eisenhower Dance is a contemporary repertory company based in the Detroit Metropolitan area.  Mature dancers should have a strong background in ballet and modern technique, along with performance experience. Ability to relocate to the Detroit area and transportation is required for company members. Dancers are contracted from Mid-August through June. The contract length is variable but is generally between 35-45 weeks with international touring. Apprentice positions and Summer Intensive acceptance will also be considered during the audition

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago

Audition Location: New York, NY @ The Joan Weill Center for Dance @ 405 W. 55th St.

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago (HSDC) will be hosting auditions in New York, NY for female dancers, for main company contracts for 2015–16 season.

Individuals interested in a position with HSDC should have at minimum two years of professional experience. The audition will begin with a ballet technique class, after which selected dancers will be asked to stay to learn repertoire, improvisation, and partnering. For more information, click here.

  • There is an audition Fee of $20 cash or check (made payable to Hubbard Street Dance Chicago).

José Mateo Ballet Theatre

Audition Location: May 28: Cambridge, MA, May 30: New York, NY
Audition Date: May 28, 2015 8:00-10:00pm and May 30, 2015 6:00-8:30pm

José Mateo Ballet Theater is now hiring company dancers for 2015-2016 with four repertory seasons and The Nutcracker. Contracts are available for male and female ballet dancers, Sept–May, 28 weeks. All rehearsals and performances will take place in Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA. Remuneration is commensurate with experience.

Koresh Dance Company

Koresh Dance Company is looking for dancers for the 2015-16 season. The audition will consist of learning selections from the company’s repertory. Dancers should have a strong background in ballet, jazz, and modern. No shoes required. Ages 21 and up only.

A warm up will not be given; however, there will be a ballet class from 9:00-10:30 AM and from 10:00-11:30 AM that is open for adult students. Class cost is $18. This class is not mandatory for the audition.

METdance is looking for Dancers for the 2015-2016 Season! Please come to either audition in person if you can.

Looking for dancers who are age 21 and older and proficient in ballet, modern, contemporary and jazz.

Oklahoma City Ballet

Oklahoma City Ballet is holding auditions for the 2015-2016 performance season. Auditioning dancers should bring a full body dance shot, headshot, and resume to the audition.  Ladies should be prepared to dance center on pointe.  

Interested applicants are encouraged to audition in person by attending one of the open auditions. However, if your schedule does not permit you to attend one of the scheduled auditions, you may send a DVD.  DVD's should include a minimum of one classical variation (ladies on pointe) and one contemporary variation, in addition to basic classroom center work, and should be mailed with resume, headshot, and full body dance shot to the address below care of Jacob Sparso, Ballet Master.  You will then be notified by Oklahoma City Ballet if we would like to schedule an audition with you during company class. Auditions during company class will be by invitation only. 

OKC Ballet offers 30 week contracts with competitive salaries, company paid health insurance and physical therapy.  Past repertoire includes Balanchine, Arpino, Tudor, Nicolo Fonte, Jessica Lang, Helen Pickett, Amy Seiwert, Alan Hineline, Matthew Neenan, Stanton Welch, Twyla Tharp and full length classics.

Thodos Dance Chicago
(TDC) will be holding open auditions for TDC Company Positions and TDC Intern/Trainee Program for the August 2015 – March 2016 contract season. The audition will consist of ballet technique, company repertoire, improvisation, and partnering with cuts made throughout the audition process. Warm-up will not be provided.

Audition Date 2: June 13, 2015 from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm

Verb Ballets is a contemporary ballet company located just minutes from downtown Cleveland, Ohio. The company strives to support and foster emerging talent, to present excellence in contemporary and ballet choreographers, and to revive and honor modern dance classics. Verb Ballets is looking for male and female dancers for annual 10-11 month contracts that include fringe benefits and a two week paid vacation. Must have a strong background in ballet and contemporary technique. Submission must include headshot, resume and a You Tube link, Vimeo or DVD showing dancers abilities. Washington National Opera

Audition Location: Washington, DC
Audition Date: May 9, 2015

Washington National Opera is holding dance auditions for our fall production of Carmen at The Kennedy Center. 

Dancers should have strong Flamenco and/or Classical Spanish Dance training. Dancers should be dynamic performers with an excellent sense of rhythm, and proficiency in Flamenco footwork. Some partnering/lifts may be involved and dancers may work with props. Please bring flamenco shoes/boots or character shoes and wear comfortable, form-fitting clothing. Women should wear rehearsal skirts if possible.
