Welcome to From the Green Room

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to From the Green Room, our new online location for the Dance/USA Journal. I sincerely hope that this new online presence will become an interactive spot in which our members and others interested in the inner workings of the dance field can explore the diversity of our dance community with articles covering a range of topics relevant to administrators and dancemakers, dancers and presenters. I sincerely hope that this new online presence will become an interactive spot in which we can explore the diversity of our dance community with articles covering a range of topics relevant to administrators and dancemakers, dancers and presenters.

In migrating to this new online platform, Dance/USA intends to provide the same in-depth coverage of the field enhanced by the added benefit of a technologically dynamic environment. This means that you will receive more frequent coverage of issues that matter to you. It also means that you will be able to comment, discuss, forward article links to board members or staff, and engage in an open dialogue with fellow Dance/USA members about relevant topics.

While From the Green Room will serve the needs of the professional dance field as a whole, as with the Dance/USA Journal, it will maintain some parameters. From the Green Room cannot accept nor announce individual dance company seasons nor advertise or promote commercial products. Additionally, in this brave new technologically enhanced world, I encourage each of you as you join the conversation to maintain the same sense of civility and collegiality that we practice in our daily professional contacts.

I am proud of the long history and legacy created by the Dance/USA Journal; I’m equally excited about the new opportunities for discourse that will be available to us in this online format. As we transition to this new interactive platform, I suspect From the Green Room will evolve to suit the needs of its readers and of the field. Therefore, I hope that you will become an engaged audience, participating in online discussions and providing feedback, contributing articles and commentary on the material From the Green Room will be presenting. This is your forum; I invite you to use it well.

Sincerely,
Andrea Snyder
Executive Director
