The Alabama Ballet invites intermediate and advanced ballet students ages 11 -19 to audition for our incredible 3 to 6 week Summer Program 2008 at our ballet facility, featuring six state of the art studios. An exceptional faculty of resident and guest teachers will provide careful instruction to further each young dancer’s technical and artistic progress. Faculty members include Alabama Ballet Artistic Director Tracey Alvey, Roger Van Fleteren, Amanda McKerrow, John Gardner, Shawn Black, Teri Weksler, Margi Cole and Donnette Cannonie. Daily technique, pointe and variations classes will be supplemented by informational seminars on topics important to the young dancer. The program will culminate in an end of session performance.

Designed for students with previous ballet experience, the 2008 Summer Intensive focuses on professional training with the distinguished staff of The School of Ballet Arizona and special guest teachers. Students are challenged to strengthen their ballet technique, including Pointe, Variations and Repertory while they learn other dance disciplines, including Modern, Dance Composition, Character, Jazz, and Flamenco. Special classes in Pilates as well as dance related workshops will be offered.
The Pre-Professional Programs will also feature Music for Dancers, classes designed to teach basic musical terminology and develop the skills needed to create a direct relationship between music and movement.

August 4th-8th, The Dance COLEctive will conduct a week long summer intensive. Classes will meet Monday- Friday and will include Pilates Mat Class taught by company member Jessica Post from 10:00am to 10:45am, Modern Technique class taught by TDC Artistic Director Margi Cole with live accompaniment from 10:45am to 12:30pm and Modern Partnering, Improvisation and Repertory taught by Margi Cole with members of the company from 1:15pm to 3:00pm. The cost of the workshop is $350.00 ($325.00 if paid in full by July 1st). Classes will focus on correct alignment, athleticism, efficiency in movement and the individuality of each dancer.

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago 2008 Pre-Professional Summer Intensive, led by Glenn Edgerton, Associate Artistic Director of the Hubbard Street Dance Center and Director of the Colburn Dance Institute in Los Angeles. This program offers an exclusive opportunity to learn company repertoire and study with HSDC’s artistic staff and former and current company dancers. The two-week intensive for students ages 17 to 23 will take place in the studios of world-renowned Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. Students will participate in daily ballet and modern classes, Pilates, video lectures and discussions, and learn HSDC repertoire, culminating in a final studio showing. Guest Artists include Glenn Edgerton, former HSDC dancer Cheryl Mann, former Alvin Ailey dancer Jeffrey Gerodias and more.

The Bates Dance Festival announces its 26th season, July 3-Aug. 9, 2008. The festival includes the renowned three-week training program for dancers 18 years and older (July 19-Aug. 9), as well as the Young Dancers Workshop, a 17-day intensive training for young pre-professional dancers ages 13-17 (July 3-19). The six-week festival features workshops and performances by more than 30 internationally recognized dance artists from around the globe.
Recognized throughout the dance world for its non-competitive environment and emphasis on experimentation, the Bates Dance Festival brings more than 340 students to the Bates College campus from across the United States and overseas to study, create and perform.
Highlighting the festival's 26th season will be residencies and performances by the acclaimed New York-based troupe Keigwin+Company, contemporary African dance makers Gregory Maqoma and Nora Chipaumire, emerging talents Zoe Scofield & Juniper Shuey, Nugent+Matteson Dance, and Christopher Williams among others. Noted dance scholar Joan Frosch will present her award-winning film, "Movement (R)evolution" and lead "Inside Dance," an audience enrichment program held in conjunction with the main stage concert series.

The Boston Ballet Summer Dance Program is an annual five-week intensive designed to improve the technique and conditioning of the dedicated ballet student. Faculty for 2008 will feature world-renowned dancers such as Evelyn Cisneros, Bonnie Mathis, Mikko Nissinen, Denise Schultze and Margaret Tracey. In order to provide well-rounded training for the next generation of dancers, students will participate in lectures and social activities on evenings and weekends in addition to dancing 5-6 hours per day. Programs are offered in two locations: Boston for students ages 15-19 and Newton for students ages 10-14. The curriculum includes classes on technique, pointe, variations and men’s classes; character, repertoire and contemporary dance; pilates and men’s conditioning; partnering (Boston), mentoring (Newton) and master classes with guest faculty. All participants ages 11 and above are welcome to register as residential students. On-site physical therapy is also available.

The Boston Conservatory's Summer Dance 2008 is an intensive program for students (ages 16 and older), teachers and professional dancers. The program features world-class faculty and small class sizes to ensure quality teaching and individualized learning. There are two sessions. Students may sign up for either session, or for the full program. Session One is from June 23 to July 11 and Session Two is from July 14 to August 1.
Students should have at least one year of serious dance study. Technique classes include ballet, pointe and modern. Student Showcases are held on our main stage theater at the end of each session. The program also includes visits from guest artists, writers and critics for discussion on dance topics and a faculty lecture series.
Summer is a wonderful time to spend unencumbered days devoted to the study of dance, make new friends and explore Boston. Summer Dance ’08 is designed to help you hone your technique, get into shape and gain exposure and experience in other dance styles.

Atlantic Contemporary Ballet Theatre is offering for the twenty fifth year, a 2,4 or8 wk summer intensive dance camp. Boarding and day students ages 10 through proffessional. Technique class & Pointe work are divided into levels according to student strength, ability and technique. The program includes: Ballet Technique, Pointe, Adagio, Character , Ethnic, Flamenco , Pirouette Class , Stretch, Men's Class, Hip Hop, Choreography and pool barre in Olympic sized swimming pool. North Carolina Dance Theatre, led by Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux and Patricia McBride, offers a comprehensive Summer Intensive program designed to challenge and encourage the serious dance student. Classes are offered at three levels for ages 11-22, in three to six week sessions.
The Summer Intensive program features daily intensive study in classical ballet technique, followed by classes in pointe, variations (male and female), modern, jazz, character, pas de deux, men’s class and NC Dance Theatre repertory. During the summer of 2008, Tulsa Ballet will host the thirteenth year of Pointe to the Future, offering students the opportunity to train with "one of the best ballet companies in the world" as well as guest artists from the international dance community. Serious ballet students ages nine years and older are invited to audition for this three week intensive.
Applicants may audition by videotape. Video auditions should be on regular VHS cassette or DVD and must be labeled with the applicant's name, mailing address, phone number, age and years of training. Audition videos should be at least 15 minutes and include both barre and center work. Please include multiple combinations. Pointe work should be included if the dancer has already been placed on pointe by her regular dance instructor.

Ballet Austin's Summer Intensive 2008
Under the personal instruction of Artistic Director, Stephen Mills, Associate Artistic Director, Michelle Martin, and an outstanding faculty, you will learn what it takes to excel in your career through this classical yet innovative program. Members of Ballet Austin II, Ballet Austin's paid apprentice program, as well as Ballet Austin Academy's Professional Division Trainees are selected from the Summer Intensive Program.
Ballet Austin's Senior Summer Intensive program offers two 3-week sessions or one 6-week session of study for serious students ages 11-22. Ballet Austin's Junior Summer Intensive program offers one 3-week session of study for serious students ages 9-13.
The Summer Intensive program is an experience that will give students a deeper understanding of ballet technique and how to use it more effectively. Experienced faculty, guest teachers from Ballet Austin's professional company, and guest teachers from other companies offer positive encouragement with relentless attention to detail.

Houston Ballet's Ben Stevenson Academy

The summer intensive program at Houston Ballet’s Ben Stevenson Academy consists of six full weeks of classes. With a rigorous schedule full of classes, rehearsals, and pilates, students have the opportunity to get a feel for life in a professional company. Classes include ballet technique, pas de deux, classical variations and repertory, character, jazz, drama, musical theater, and social dancing. Students are also offered dancer health and well-being classes as well as individual and group pilates sessions. Each summer, a select group of students are invited to choreograph pieces with student composers from the American Festival of the Arts. Students are housed in dorms at a nearby university with full-time chaperones. They also get the chance to visit some of Houston’s well-known tourist attractions, including Splashtown, Minute Maid Park, the Galleria, and others. To conclude the summer, students perform in public workshops held at Houston Ballet and a local theater.

Pacific Northwest Ballet School Summer Course students and PNB Company dancers share our state-of-the-art facility, The Phelps Center, located in the heart of downtown Seattle by the historic Space Needle. In our spacious, light-filled studios students experience the ultimate setting for professional training while enjoying the benefits of PNB's outstanding faculty, rigorous curriculum, and safe, secure environment. Pacific Northwest Ballet School’s Summer Course curriculum offers serious ballet students the highest caliber of intensive classical training, augmented by a rich diversity of dance forms necessary to meet the eclectic demands of dance companies today. Students attend class Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and a Saturday morning technique class. Summer Course also offers students seminars on a wide variety of topics relevant to the young dancer including nutrition, dance history, music, foot health, production and pointe shoe care. School is out and it¹s time for the fun to begin! Joy of Motion Dance Center offers a full schedule of summer dance camps and intensives in Jazz, Broadway Jazz, Ballet, Belly Dance, Hip Hop, Tap, Modern and Music Video Street Jazz for youth students ages 3-18 as well as an adult Summer Stock Broadway Jazz Performance camp for students age 16 and up. Youth Dance Ensemble Summer Dance Intensive
Joy of Motion Dance Center introduces a summer training camp for the award winning Youth Dance Ensemble from July 14-August 1, 2008. Classes will be held from 4:30-6:30pm, Monday through Friday, at Joy of Motion Dance Center¹s Bethesda location. This program is open to ANY student in grades 3-5 and grades 6-8 with a minimum of 2 years of training. Each level program will consist of daily technique classes and special project blocks from July 14-25th. Studies may include ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, theater dance, anatomy, nutrition, dance history and more!
From July 28-August 1, students will learn a short piece of repertory to be performed at the Jack Guidone Theater on August 2, 2008 in a youth showcase. Students may participate in weeks one and two only. Students wishing to participate in week 3, must complete weeks one and two.
