2014 Annual Conference Programming
Focused on identifying best practices for the field, 2014 Annual Conference breakout sessions engaged attendees in discussions about proven models, practical tools, and innovative strategies to address issues relevant to the art form. Sessions were designed to inspire new thinking, provide experiential hands-on learning, and examine successful models that reflect the industry’s entrepreneurial spirit. By identifying successful and innovative strategies to support the field, this conference energized and empowered artists and administrators who are working to keep dance essential in the cultural map of the United States.
As Dance/USA strives to offer more robust and rich professional development sessions at our Annual Conferences, we restructured the process through which programming is collected, vetted, and presented. The 2014 Idea Proposals were evaluated and processed through the following lenses to best lead the field in offering pertinent, quality, and strategic programming: Health & Wellness, Audience Development, Business Practices, and Technology & Communications. The core value of equity and inclusivity served as a lens by which the design of all breakout sessions passed through including but not limited to the diversity of voices being presented, addressing the needs of the diverse group of conference attendees, and designs that allow for active discussion.
