Chicago Dance Crash is looking for athletic & diverse dancers for our 2018 Season.
Described by the Chicago Tribune as “a compelling mixture of ballet, hip hop, and dangerous acrobatics,” Crash will be entering its 16th Season of 50+ performances including repertory concerts, freestyle works, full-length productions, school assemblies, battles, and site-specific installations performed locally and across the U.S.
Artistic Director Jessica Deahr will be looking for male and female dancers with strong hip hop and/or contemporary technique. Audition will consist of a barefoot, contemporary combination followed by a hip hop combination (shoes preferred by not required). Selected dancers may be asked to perform a very short freestyle to music of Crash’s choice. Audition begins promptly at 1pm and will go no later than 4pm on Sunday, October 29th.
There is NO fee to audition.
Dancers invited to join the 2018 Performance Ensemble will be required to relocate to Chicago, IL. Company dancers are paid a monthly rehearsal retainer as well as performance stipends and travel. One unpaid performing apprentice is selected annually. 2018 Season contracts will begin December 4th, 2017. For questions or to reserve your slot, email Mark at no later than October 24th.

Both auditions occur at the Lula Washington Dance Theatre Studios (LWDT), 3773 Crenshaw Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90016. For more information about the auditions, click here.
In addition, our ballet conversation will take place on Sunday before the Women of Color audition at 12:30 PM at the LWDT studios.
We seek professional dancers, with and without disabilities, with technical and performance experience and capable of teaching in the Miami Dade Public Schools.
On January 8, 2018, we will begin a Monday thru Friday rehearsal and teaching period until the final performances takes place on May 10, 11, 12, 2018 at the Excello Dance Space. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, we will have a company class at 10am – 11:15am followed by a 11:30- 2pm rehearsal period developing new repertory and revisiting older works.
On Tuesday and Thursday you will travel to one of the thirteen schools throughout Miami Dade County and develop a one-hour class for teens with special needs. The number of classes you teach will reflect your weekly salary.
You may rehearse Monday, Wednesday and Friday if you prefer not to teach.
At the end of the 20-week school residency we will present a showcase for the teens at one of the Miami Dade Schools on April 27th. Out theme will be "Under the Umbrella of Joy and Friendship".
You have to provide your own transportation if you would like to teach, file taxes with a 1099 at the year-end and sign a KPD contract provided by a board attorney.
