Marlana Doyle, the artistic director of the Houston's METdance Company and Center, is originally from Massachusetts and graduated from Point Park University in 2001 with a BA in Dance. Doyle has been a part of METdance for the past sixteen years and was integral in the MET’s reorganization in 2003. As the Artistic Director, Doyle has forwarded the company’s vision with a strong focus on diversity and versatility of the dancers and its choreographers. She and the Company are members of Dance Source Houston, Association of Performing Arts Presenters, and Dance/USA. Doyle has represented METdance by attending both Annual Conferences for Arts Presenters and Dance/USA as an emerging leader for the last ten years. She was a participant in Dance/USA 2012 Institute for Leadership Training – a national program – as a mentee, and was elected an Artistic Director Council Chair for the 2016-2017, 2017-2018, and 2018-2019 member years. She has also served on many grant and organizational panels for the Houston Arts Alliance. Doyle has helped book national tours for METdance in Colorado, Boston, New York City, California, Pennsylvania, Chicago, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Virginia, Rhode Island, Louisiana, and Texas. Most recently the company has performed to standing ovations at the Green Box Arts Festival, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival Inside/Out in 2012, 2014, and 2017, 17th Annual Choreography Festival in Palm Springs, CA, Dallas Dance Festival, and Austin Dance Festival.
As a dancer, Doyle has worked with many talented choreographers and still enjoys performing with the company once in a while. While directing the professional company is her main focus, Doyle also fills her time overseeing the MET too youth company, MET ensemble, METdance Center, choreographing, teaching, and judging in Houston and throughout the United States.
She lives in Sugar Land, TX with her husband Ben and two daughters.
